My studio’s story…
We support you as you move into your body by deepening your pole practice

A technical start
Some people were born dancers. I’m not one of them. In fact, I used to mostly see my body a necessary inconvenience. So my first career life had nothing to do with pole.
Ex-Google. Ph.D. You can call me Dr. Rosy, if you want ;).
I was working in AI as a researcher & educator in natural language processing. But something felt like it was missing. My tech career wasn’t allowing me to live out my values; I wanted to help people connect with their bodies.
Why? Because I know first-hand how transformative it can be.
How I created a new relationship with my body through pole
I’ll be honest, when I took my first pole dance class in 2012, I cried in my car afterwards. I was out of shape. I couldn’t do a single move.
But as a very determined person, I kept at it.
And I had a major breakthrough when I embraced freestyle dance and the science behind movement. Because there is so much research on exercise and dance that I never knew. And I hadn’t met a lot of pole teachers who were applying it.
It was the first time I appreciated my body. They way it could move. How it’s an instrument. How it can even be a source of joy.
I went from feeling disconnected to becoming embodied. To finding pleasure in a body that had never felt like home before. And I attribute that to the power of pole.
I started Slink Through Strength to bring students into a world where they can define pole for themselves. They can rewrite the story they have with their bodies. And they can invite joy, pleasure, and growth into their dancing.
The brain-body connection
Being in tech didn’t feel like my end game. But a proud nerd at heart, I knew that only focusing on the artistry of pole (which I do love!) would never feel aligned either.
So I brought science into the mix. I used my research background and personal training certification to approach leaning and teaching pole moves like experiments: isolating variables, deriving first principles and—of course—always checking for ecological validity. (How does this work for other people in other bodies? 🕵️♀️)
I aim to make it easy for everyone to come in, play, learn, make mistakes, and love themselves more in the process.
I discovered so much about the science of pole I had to start a podcast to get even more into the weeds of the research & practitioner insights.
Our method revolves around creating an inclusive space to facilitate evidence-based classes. We invite students to enter their bodies, maybe for the first time, free of judgment and expectation. We use science to help you grow as a dancer.
Because here, becoming better means becoming better at knowing what you’re capable of inside and outside of class.
